Brass plaque on wall beneath cross – This cross stood at the head of the grave of / CAPTAIN GEOFFREY GUNNIS. MC / Grenadier Guards, in the cemetery of / St Sever. Rouen, from October 1916 until / June 1923 when it was replaced by a headstone.

Base of lower arm cut to a point.

Mounted on east rebate of the south nave window dedicated to G. G. Gunnis. The window has an informative plaque underneath.

Shadow of small cross at the top of the lower arm

Green mark around brass plaque probably due to brass cleaning polish.

Other information: (From David Milborrow)

GRU tag to top, other tags appear to have been either covered or replaced with an engraved brass plate. Some signs of worm and rot to base, also the shadow of a smaller cross light etched into the wood.
