Lt. Jeffery was 19 when he was killed. He was the son of Thomas George and Constance Lillie Jeffery, of 3, Elphinstone Mansions, 2, Elphinstone Rd., Southsea, Portsmouth. The inscription on his permanent memorial reads “HE HEARD THE CALL AND GAVE HIS YOUTH THAT THE WORLD MIGHT GROW OLD IN PEACE”
He is buried at Mendingham Cemetery in Belgium.
