Condition: Paint is peeling. GRU tags are quite pitted and some parts are illegible. The cross has a later piece of wood nailed to the back of the original shaft to support it.

Other information, notes and observations: The cross rests against the wall in front of the Second World War memorial and is draped with poppies. The pieces of ribbon (Red, White and Blue) are tied to the cross beam of the marker.

Biographical Data: Company Quartermaster Serjeant. Service No:200063. Date of Death:30/11/1918. Age:34 Joe was in the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. He died after the Armistice, cause Pneumonia, probably contracted via Spanish Influenza. Son of Joseph and Sarah Ann Davies, of 19, Mill St., Ludlow, Salop. Buried at Etaples, Pas de Calais. L1.E.5.
